CQC responsible person's liability

The responsible person is required by CQC to perform certain specified regulatory activities, including the privacy, safety and independence of patient and service users. Any failure to do so can result in the responsible person facing personal penalties, although this is very rare.

CHIS have developed a legal advice and expenses insurance facility specifically for the person identified as the Responsible Person.

Material damage

The policy covers material damage including buildings, contents, stocks, goods in transit, equipment including all your surgery equipment, money and business interruption.

Combined liability

This involves cover for employers', public and product liability claims with the option to include either contingent malpractice cover or, if all GPs, dentists and other qualified medical or dental personnel have their own individual MDO cover, full malpractice.

Legal advice and expenses

All of our policies include legal expenses cover in addition to access to an advice line. The current litigation and compensation culture means that this is an essential cover for any business in order to protect itself from possible legal proceedings and costs.

Additional cover

The CHIS policy can also include: personal liability covers for the senior management team; hacker and computer viruses, and staff accidents while at work.
